July's Tertulia: A Tribute to Colombia ¡El Sabor Colombiano, Celébralo! When: Friday, July 27 2012 7:00pm Where: Crane Old School (the corner of 2nd and Jefferson) 1417 North 2nd Street Philadelphia. PA 19122 July's Tertulia: A Tribute to Colombia ¡El Sabor Colombiano, Celébralo! In honor of Colombia's Independence Day, Raíces is celebrating the rich culture of Colombia for its July Tertulia. You will get a real feel for el sabor colombiano during this celebratory evening, which will feature Colombian literature, music, and artwork. Raíces will start the night with Soledad Chavez-Plumley a teacher and writer of poetry and short stories. Born and raised in Colombia, Soledad has lived in the US for the past 30 years, where she has taught Latino youth in a North Philadelphia bilingual school and published books about her experiences and teachings. Soledad will talk about her personal writings and the works of Colombian, Nobel Prize winner Garcia Marques. Following Soledad's talk, the audience will journey through the rhythms and beats of Colombia with live music performances by Jose Rico and Tito Lopez. $10. donation
