October 27, 2017 7:00PM - 1:00AM Retirement Party and Lease-Burning Party at CEC

"It’s a New Day!” Retirement Party for Ms. Terri, A Fundraiser for the CEC!

Philadelphia, PA – On October 27, 2017 from 7pm-1am the Community Education Center aka the CEC will have a party to celebrate our purchase of the building @ 3500 Lancaster Avenue and the retirement of long time executive director Theresa (Ms. Terri) Shockley. The Lease Burning & Retirement Party for Ms. Terri is a Fundraiser for the CEC.

After nearly a half century of occupying the turn of the century former Quaker Meetinghouse and School the CEC has finally obtained ownership of the building it is indeed a new day for the center. This landmark accomplishment is truly a longtime community endeavor thanks to the efforts of the current and past administrations and boards, many supportive community members, and especially Councilwoman Blackwell and the Philadelphia City Council; the CEC now holds the deed to the building! The CEC is also celebrating the 20years of service and retirement of Executive Director Theresa (Ms. Terri) Shockley. The current Board of Directors along with the Producers’ Guild, who partners with the CEC to present jazz at the center, invites the community to come celebrate both of these important milestones at this fundraising party filled with entertainment, food, and fun. This fundraiser is an important and timely effort for the CEC that will insure that the center stays strong through this significant transition in leadership and property ownership. We hope our community near and far will accept this call to action and rally to both celebrate the legacy of Ms. Terri and support the future of the CEC’s vital presence in West Philadelphia.

The celebration will feature several jazz artists, dancers, and theatre artists who are part of the CEC extended family. There will also be an awards ceremony to recognize some of the many community members whose contributions to the center have meant so much to the organization over the years. The CEC will honor the on-going dedication of volunteer Judith Adamson, and posthumously Randy Dalton, for all that he did for the center.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at The CEC
