Omar's Hat is a collective of musicians based out of Philadelphia. They host late night sessions featuring young local talent from across the city. Although many of them come from a background in jazz, their jam sessions often take the music everywhere from Latin and progressive rock to neo-soul and gospel.

March 7, 2020 7:30PM AYÇA YEŞIM Classic Turkish Songs from Istanbul and Beyond

Biography
Ayca Yesim has been a singer of classical Turkish music, which originated in the Ottoman court, for over fifteen years. Known for a voice that recalls the great Turkish singers of the past, she is devoted to maintaining the pure, classical vocal techniques of Turkish music.
She studied with some of the most renowned teachers of this art form in Istanbul. In America she has worked with opera singer Rebecca Carr and Margaret Baroody of the voice team of the International Voice Foundation.
Ayca Yesim produced and presented a live music show called Hoşçavakit for Istanbul-based Rumeli TV. She also produced and presented Şehirname, an international travel show and has recorded four solo albums. 
During her childhood in Turkey, her family moved frequently and she grew up in many different parts of the country. She then studied business in Ankara and worked in banking in Switzerland and the UK.
For this performance, Ayça will be accompanied by Umut Yasmut on kanun (Turkish zither), Adam Good on oud, and Gerardo Razumney on percussion.
