August 27 & 28 1:00-4:00PM Raï Dance Program 2-Day Workshop at Al-Bustan Seeds Hub

"Raï'na " meaning "Our Raï" is a dance empowerment weekend foregrounding the intersection of 1) the pedagogy of Algerian Raï dance and 2) interpersonal connection & storytelling. In Arabic "Raï" literally means "opinion" but in the musical genre, it refers to the singer's blues. In Algeria, it carries a rebellious spirit; it is a form of visceral storytelling, pushing societal boundaries around gender, sexuality, and public expression.
