The Philadelphia Jazz Tap Ensemble looks forward to April 2021 and our upcoming concert, “Tyner and Timmons,” an evening of new tap dance and percussion works celebrating the contributions of these two legendary Philadelphia jazz pianists and composers. Our work has always been fueled by a distinctive focus on Philadelphia jazz musicians and this concert represents our first foray into a Philly jazz retrospective that honors the past while advancing the scope and possibilities of our art form. We are excited to present this work during Philly's annual Jazz Appreciation Month celebration.
The PJTE is directed by Pamela Hetherington along with a new, core collaborative trio that includes Erica Corbo, Bethlehem Roberson and Vanetta Wood. Tyner and Timmons will feature Tim Brey on piano with additional musicians to be announced. Keep up with us on our website at www.philajazztap.org for ticket info and more....in-person performances are still "TBD" in the city of Philadelphia.
Orlando Haddad has been commissioned to write a new chamber music composition for Orchestra 2001, to be be premiered also at Esperanza Theater. Both Orlando and Patricia will take part as well. The piece, which is under development, will be called "Lendas Amazônicas", based on legends from the indigenous people from the Amazon.
