We are very excited to share the celebratory events and workshops happening this spring and summer and to be back dancing in the studio with our growing community!
Sol "La Argentinita", directly from Granada, has been a longtime collaborator and friend and will be conducting a two-day Cante/Dance Workshop on March 4th & 5th (Saturday and Sunday).
Traditional flamenco is a conversation between the dancer and singer and, as dancers, it’s our job to interpret the cante in our choreography. Sol will teach us verses which we will sign sing and then she will introduce choreography that corresponds to the verse. This workshop affords us a unique opportunity to simultaneously study cante and dance.
Check out the flyer above for the class times and the sign-up information! Both singers and dancers are welcome!

“Omar's Hat started on the corner of 45th and Locust when a group of musicians gathered in a place called Meskerem to spark a jam that’s never stopped since. This collective is our open act of rebellion, always expanding, never settling. This music is our love for Philadelphia, for a history of sounds that make and remake us every day. Our music is for Omar, whose dance never quit reminding us that each day is to be treasured; that you can always find magic in every day. This music is for you, come join in. All creative attitudes are welcomed and celebrated. Omar's Hat is free to try on and wear out and pass off to a friend or a loved one or a sister or a stranger. We thank you for being a part of the vibe.”
