Minas Presents: Tribute to Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 - The Mod Days of the 1960s
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sergio Mendes music was a mixture of psychedelic pop, light jazz, and bossa nova all weaved into one. The music of Minas was very much influenced by Sergio's band since the early days when Orlando Haddad and Patricia King met as students in North Carolina, and formed Minas in 1978. Orlando grew up in Brazil listening to bossa nova and The Beatles, while Patricia grew up in Pennsylvania doing musical comedy and listening to Sergio Mendes.
After North Carolina the couple spent two years performing and traveling in Brazil before moving from Rio de Janeiro to Philadelphia. With six albums to their credit, Minas continues to be on the forefront of their genre, bringing Brazilian music to diverse audiences in the City of Brotherly Love and beyond.
