Minas returns to WCL for our annual November show. Last year it was the smash "Beatles in Bossa Nova". This November, our Quintet, featuring Philadelphia saxophone legend Larry McKenna, will present a tribute to Jobim and Cole Porter, two of the most revered songwriters from South and North America. Renditions of Porter's "Begin the Beguine", "So In Love", "Love for Sale", "Night and Day" and others will be presented with a Brazilian twist, while Jobim's "Samba do Avião" (Jet Samba), "Águas de Março" (Waters of March), "One Note Samba", and "Corcovado", also among others, will be presented with an authentic Brazilian beat, but in a jazzy style. Completing the repertoire, we'll will perform a few of our own compositions inspired by the music of Jobim and Cole Porter.
