For the last Twilight in the Gardens of the year we’re celebrating all things otherworldly!
Catch a lively performance by Paulette Branson & Mixed People, a funky, soul fusion band with hints of rock and world music, otherwise known as new age funk. Mixed People is a Philadelphia-based band, founded by guitarist, Paulette Branson, in August 2012. The music is progressive, and the energy and emotion behind this band will get you dancing on your feet and singing along!
This month’s Teaching Artist is Erika Guadalupe Núñez (she/her/hers/ella), a queer immigrant, artist, and cultural organizer. Erika Guadalupe’s public work centers around creating art with members of her community, in order to highlight issues of inequality as they pertain to the immigrant rights movement. You can follow Erika’s work on Instagram at @monequiltia.
For October’s activity, Erika Guadalupe will lead guests in creating papel picado designs to be formed into garlands or to be framed as single works of art. Take home your papel picado and celebrate the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos early!
As an added bonus, for an additional fee we’ll also be offering tarot card readings with Special Guest Kat Hennessy! Hennessy is a Philly-based astrologer, teacher at The Philadelphia School, artist, and positive psychology practitioner. Kat practices astrology from a deep desire to celebrate the magical and powerful essential nature of each being on this planet. You can follow her on Instagram @SpritelySage.
Twilight in the Gardens is a BYOBBS event (Bring Your Own Booze, Blanket, and Snacks), and guests are encouraged to relax and picnic in the space.
