Join us at the Overbrook Garage Studio for Winter classes beginning January 8! We have several exciting classes, including a new class, Improvisation por Tangos and Bulerias 1 taught by Elba Hevia y Vaca.
NEW CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Since flamenco is a conversation between the singer, dancer, guitarist, and palmeros, improvisation is very important skill to develop. We will learn the first three levels of improvisation.
First, we will learn the structure of the tangos or bulerias.
Stage One:
We will follow a choreography that we have learned por tangos or bulerias adapt it in the moment based on the cante.
Stage Two:
Create your own choreography and adapt it in the moment based on the cante.
In both levels one and two we will learn to improvise within a set piece by adapting parts of that choreography. We will do this by:
1. adding steps
2. subtracting steps
3. making a step longer
4. making a step shorter
Stage Three:
Follow a partial plan.
