In collaboration with Brownbody, we're starting 2025 with a special screening of "Tracing Sacred Steps: The Cinematic Experience" at Temple University's Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Stella Elkins Gallery, on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 6 pm.
Directed by Deneane Richburg and Aidan Un, the film centers on Brownbody's "Ring Shout," a performance blending dance, theater, figure skating, embodied by a professional cast of Black skating artists. Watch the film trailer here.
"Tracing Sacred Steps: The Cinematic Experience" is followed by a discussion facilitated by Sandra Richardson (Brownbody's Undoing Racism, Healing, and Organizational Consultant), with:
- Co-Director and Choreographer, Deneane Richburg (Brownbody)
- Associate Artistic Director, Lela Aisha Jones (Brownbody)
- Composer & Sound Designer, Alex Shaw
- Several artists featured in the work
This screening is part of "Keep it Moving," a program honoring choreographer Merián Soto's 25 years of creative research at Temple University's Department of Dance. Early arrival is suggested.
Admission is complimentary with RSVP.
