June 19, 2025 5:30-9:00PM Roots and Rhythms: The African Influence in the Venezueland Diaspora and Latin America

 

Casa de Venezuela Philadelphia, in collaboration with Taller Puertorriqueño, is proud to announce Venezuelan Expressions 2025: "Roots & Rhythms – The African Influence in the Venezuelan Diaspora," a vibrant cultural and educational event that explores the powerful legacy of African heritage in Venezuelan and Caribbean traditions.

Taking place on Thursday, June 19, 2025 (Juneteenth Day), from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Taller Puertorriqueño auditorium, the program will feature an interactive educational workshop and a dynamic live performance led by acclaimed Afro-Venezuelan artist Carlos Talez, joined by four talented musicians. Renowned historian Evelyne Laurent-Perrault will co-facilitate the workshop and provide historical context on the African roots that have shaped Venezuelan identity and diaspora.

This year's program is a unique opportunity to commemorate Juneteenth, while also honoring the vibrant traditions of San Benito and San Juan Bautista—Afro-Venezuelan celebrations rooted in resistance, resilience, and cultural pride.
