With performance ensembles in both Seattle & Philadelphia, The Red Rose Jazz Project honors women composers and lyricists through Classic Jazz performance and anecdotal HerStories. As an all women's collaborative, the project takes its name in honor of American Artist Violet Oakley and her "Red Rose Girls" who chose to live and work together in solidarity - focused on their art. We don’t live together, but do love working together and love playing great music written by women!

With a beautifully smooth and soulful voice, Pacific Northwest Jazz, Folk & Blues vocal artist Jean Lenke paints music in full color, with broad strokes and a free hand. As bandleader her approach to music is free spirited, crossing boundaries and mixing genres ~ she doesn’t always color inside the lines. Jean’s fresh approach to Classic Jazz is influenced by an eclectic mix of mid-century Folk, Jazz-Rock Fusion and a Soulful heartfelt passion for life.
