The Philly Reggae and Dub band is an initiative to contribute a more authentic representation of Reggae music in the city of Philadelphia and beyond. Philly Reggae Band is under the direction of Jamaican born, Philly raised artist, Jonifin Marvin Benjamin. With deep roots in Jamaican culture as well as American music culture, the direction of the music is a dynamic one where songs with reggae influences spanning across various music genres can be found in the PRB set lists. Jonifin Marvin also aims to provide another platform for local musicians who are knowledgeable of the Reggae genre to display their talent. PRB aims to be the official ambassador when it comes to live Reggae in Philadelphia. Jonifin Marvin played with Lloyd Alexander and Deonte Satchell at First Fridays back in 2013, since then they’ve had a very friendly, peculiar musical bond consisting of respect, creation, soul and Philly flare. Local artists, Fawziyya Heart: vocals, and Dave Kasper: Bass, accompany the trio accenting the PRB sound with their experience and excitement to play the music.

Trinidelphia has been pleasing audiences with their distinct combination of American and Caribbean styles for over a decade, after meeting in Philadelphia in 2005. Fusing Trinidadian Soca and Calypso with Latin Jazz, Reggae, Salsa, and American top-40, they have developed a sound all their own. Their unique and rhythmic arrangements of jazz and popular songs cast the steelpan in fresh new light, pushing the stylistic and artistic boundaries of an often type-cast instrument. Steel Pannist/Trumpeter Chris Aschman, Lead Vocalist/Drummer Shawn Hennessey, and Bassist Ian Rafalak, and Drummer Matt Scarano each add a unique"voice" to help add to the ensemble's chemistry. As freelance musicians in their own right, they have performed with names such as Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Bill Withers, Stanley Clarke, Teena Marie, Joe Piscopo, Jeffry Iqbar, Andy Narell, The O'Jays, Wayne Brady, Justin Guarani, and Melody Gardot, and at venues ranging from Philadelphia's Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center, the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York, and the Queen's Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain Trinidad.
