Worldtown, a Philadelphia based music and arts organization comprised of an 8 piece band and 2 DJs, announce the launch of their newest venture, Worldtown Citizens. The Worldtown Citizens is an outreach initiative that serves to mobilize volunteers to participate in community service projects in the greater Philadelphia area.
The launch event on April 8th from 12pm to 4pm at Life Do Grow Farm (located at 2315 N. 11th Street) will be a service party in collaboration with the Philly Urban Creators, a grassroots organization dedicated to “transforming neglected landscapes into dynamic safe-spaces that foster connectivity, self-sufficiency, and innovation.” Their goal is to stabilize struggling neighborhoods and encourage youth development through artistic expression, education, and urban farming. Volunteers at the service party will help with farm-based work, such as weeding and planting as well as painting while the Worldtown DJs and drummers provide a musical background. Food and beverages will also be provided. Please dress for the weather and to get dirty. Closed toed shoes only.
Worldtown is calling on all organizations, businesses, school groups, and media outlets in Philadelphia to help spread the word and be a part of the movement. All interested volunteers are welcome to join Worldtown and the Philly Urban Creators to enjoy a day of food, music, and giving back to the Philadelphia community.
