January 28, 29, & 30, 2020 7:00-8:30PM Taste and Sound Residency at South Philly Barbacoa

The Taste & Sound residency offers a dinner and a performance, transcending the sounds of cooking into an experimental musical performance. Percussionist and Philadelphia native Shakoor Hakeem and Benjamin Miller from South Philly Barbacoa have developed a musical performance that incorporates all elements of a meal being prepared, the spontaneous reaction and interplay of the sounds create a unique live musical atmosphere, as guests enjoy the delicious results of the creation. The duo, Hakeem and Miller, have previously shared the stage with guest musicians such as multi- instrumentalist Moor Mother, saxophonist Maria Grand, and German contrabass player Vincent Arp. This year they will be joined by very special guest Graham Haynes, an American cornetist, trumpeter and composer. The son of jazz drummer Roy Haynes, Graham is known for his work in nu jazz, fusing jazz with elements of hip hop and electronic music, along with his foundational role in the groundbreaking M-Base Collective."
