Philadelphia’s robust network of arts & culture organizations, large and small, will be celebrated every week as they perform in the center of the city. Shows will range from orchestral serenades and ballet ensembles to jazz instrumentals and beyond. In support of local restaurants, guests are encouraged to dine al fresco with takeout meals from nearby eateries. Cocktails to-go made with Maker’s Mark Bourbon and Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer will be offered to guests 21 and older, and a special menu will be available at the Air Grille.
Tonight's group, The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble produces original works of choreography while preserving the tradition of improvisation in American rhythm tap, bringing innovative percussive dance to diverse audiences. Founded in 2011, the Philadelphia-based, all-women ensemble centers the work of women artists and contributes to the revitalization of Philadelphia’s rich tap history by challenging the public’s perception of percussive dance through choreographic commissions, a bi-annual concert series at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre including The Tapcracker and On Tap, free community performances, and arts education programming. This free, 60-minute concert will include company favorites and new repertoire performed by the ensemble’s First Company and Apprentice dancers. The performance will begin at 6:00 p.m.
