Puerta Abierta is a new series from World Cafe Live centering and celebrating the diasporic sounds of Latinx culture. This summer, we’ll welcome artists across a variety of genres and regions to our stages for a mix of live music and educational events.

Puerta Abierta focuses on programs that reflect the diverse communities found in Philadelphia. From May through August, we'll host performances by emerging and established artists in both the Lounge and Music Hall at World Cafe Live. Each night will feature a unique food & drink menu from Executive Chef Rob Cottman influenced by specific Latinx culinary traditions. We'll also bring in new teaching artists to develop and premiere a Bridge Session exploring Latinx music and culture, further expanding our free music education programs. This is just the beginning, so stay tuned for more announcements!

We’re excited to create new connections within our vibrant city. Come join us – our doors are open!

Visionary singer, multi instrumentalist and songwriter Xenia Rubinos uses her soulful voice to lead a genre defying live band pulling from R&B to Hip-Hop to jazz influences, all delivered with a New York punk-funk abandon. Her second full length album Black Terry Cat, was released by ANTI- Records and garnered her wide critical acclaim. Her powerhouse vocals have been featured on albums by legendary sonic adventurers Deerhoof as well as labelmate Son Little. Rubinos tours internationally and is known for her captivating stage performances.

While the pandemic was a setback for a lot of artists, it was a blessing in disguise for PIERI. The San Miguel de Allende, Mexico-born, Brooklyn-based rapper released “Quien Paga” with a video funded by her stimulus checks. The two-minute track is a trip in the fast lane that follows her previous single “Kitican” where she first showcased her “bombastic style”. Receiving critical acclaim and support from the likes of Iggy Pop, The New York Times, and Passion of the Weiss, PIERI is quickly becoming one to watch.
