Inspired by PyA Artistic Director Elba Hevia y Vaca’s three year exploration into Andean research and shamanic ceremonies, Portales-Muchos, Mundos is a work in progress that features contemporary and traditional Flamenco, Kathack dance, ritualistic moment, and spoken word. Weaving in and out of physical, cultural, and spiritual worlds, this work looks at reconciling contrasting identities, dance forms, and artistic mediums, sparking conversation about spirituality, ancestry, racism, sexism and how our interpretation of history colors our sense of self.
