Please join us for a night of watching, dancing and listening to tango at the gorgeous new Barnes Foundation on Friday, March 1.
The event features:
** a concert of tango music by Philadelphia’s premier tango ensemble, the Oscuro Quintet, with vocalists Tomas Alcon of Uruguay and Héctor Pablo Pereyra of Argentina
** a tango performance by dancers Meredith Klein and Pablo Garcia Gomez
** a demonstration of social dancing by students of the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School and
** a milonga (social dance) with DJ Damián Lobato.
Tickets at the door: $10
A limited number of FREE tickets are available to dancers in the Philadelphia Tango Community. The ticket entitles you to entrance to the Tango event, and to the special exhibit on view at the Barnes Foundation, “Picasso and the African Model.” (You will not be able to access the full collection of the Barnes with the free ticket.) If you are already a member of the Barnes, then the event is free for you, so please do not also claim a free ticket. Thanks!
Schedule for the Evening:
** 6 pm: Doors Open
** 6:30-8:30 pm: Concert by the Oscuro Quintet featuring vocalists Tomas Alcon of Uruguay and Héctor Pablo Pereyra of Argentina, a performance by Meredith Klein & Pablo Garcia Gomez, and a demonstration of tango social dance by students of the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School
** 8:30-10 pm: Milonga (Open Social Dance) with DJed music by Damián Lobato
