In her Philadelphia debut, Noura Mint Seymali delivers traditional melodies within contemporary African pop song in the language of griot. Accompanied by a band of classical instruments like the teubeul (drum) and ardine (harp) juxtaposed with electric guitar, Noura’s music links modalities from opposite sides of the Sahara, reflecting Mauritania’s deep cultural texture.
