This award-winning documentary follows street-smart Ivy League students who band together on an adventure to the enigmatic Caribbean island of Cuba, where the population is 60% black. Their journey reveals enthralling scenes of Cuban life, including hip-hop performances, block parties, and candid encounters with Afro-Cuban youth. As they film, the young travelers discover connections between Cuban and American perspectives on human rights, race, and revolution.A discussion with Black and Cuba filmmaker Dr. Robin Hayes will follow the February 21 screening at AAMP.

AAMP proudly presents our latest special exhibition, Drapetomanía: Grupo Antillano and the Art of Afro-Cuba. This fine arts exhibition is a tribute to Grupo Antillano, a visual arts and cultural movement in Cuba that privileged the importance of African and Afro-Caribbean influences in the formation of the nation. Curated by Harvard historian Alejandro de la Fuente, this exhibit features a captivating collection of artwork by this revolutionary and often overlooked group of artists.
