Screening of "Jogo de Corpo" (documentary by Mestre Cobra Mansa) & Opening Reception
Join the Philadelphia chapter of the International Capoeira Angola Foundation (FICA-Philadelphia) and MANDINGA, LLC to celebrate the 20th anniversary of FICA’s participation in the Odunde African Street Festival.
Masters of the Afro-Brazilian art from, practitioners, and researchers will come together to watch the film, take part in a Capoeira demonstration, and participate in a panel discussion with the film's producer and co-founder of FICA, Mestre Cobra Mansa.
Dr. Ken Dossar, founder of MANDINGA says of the film: “The intention of Mestre Cobra Mansa’s very personal journey to Africa, to look deeper into the African past for the sources of Capoeira has produced a film rich in history that breaks new ground for all who truly yearn to know the roots of this cultural treasure from Afro-Brazil.”
The film was winner of The Best Feature/Documentary award at the 2014 Philadelphia Film Festival.
