Sara Michaels is opening her 2017 Jazz Cocktail Hour series in the Knauer Performing Arts Center on Thursday, January 19th with Vocalist Rhenda Fearrington! Join us for the Songs of Roberta Flack and Nina Simone.
Rhenda Fearrington has travelled the world in the last 30+ years as a Jazz performer and back-up singer for Roberta Flack & MTUME. After performing with many greats such as Lou Rawls, Peabo Bryson, Lionel Ritchie and The Commodores and even Chaka Kahn to name just a few, she has turned her interests back to promoting Philadelphia Jazz.
After relocating to Pennsylvania from New York, to raise her sons, Rhenda launched a One Woman Show: "Rhenda's Feel Sooo Good Tour," that she has performed in schools across the Mid-Atlantic.Through interactive storytelling and singing, she delivered a message to children, encouraging them to "Feel Sooo Good," about themselves!" For the last 10 years, she has been a Philadelphia Jazz Advocate on the periphery, but is now taking that focus full tilt, as she launches a blog that helps musicians manage and develop their own business. Her mission is to bring the importance of the Philadelphia Jazz culture and it's contribution to America to a much wider audience; using her social media persona the, "Sista In The Front," as she continues on her path as a singer.
Rhenda will be joined by Dan Hanrahan on guitar, Nimrod Speaks on bass, and Harry "Butch" Reed on drums.
Doors open at 6:00pm in the Univest Room. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults and $10 in advance and $15 at the door for students/children.
