Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Zenón has released ten recordings, including the Grammy-nominated Típico (2017) and Identities Are Changeable (2014). He has performed with— among others—The SFJAZZ Collective, Charlie Haden, Fred Hersch, David Sánchez, Danilo Perez, The Vanguard Orchestra, Guillermo Klein, Jeff Ballard, Antonio Sánchez, Ray Barreto, Jerry González, the Mingus Big Band, Bobby Hutcherson, and Steve Coleman.

Zenón has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The LA Times, and has graced the cover of Downbeat two times in 2010 and 2014.

He has also written commissions for SFJAZZ, The New York State Council on the Arts, Chamber of Music America, Logan Center for the Arts, The Guggenheim Foundation, Peak Performances, MIT, and PRISM Quartet, among others. Zenón has given master classes worldwide and is on the faculty at the New England Conservatory of Music. In 2011, he founded Caravana Cultural, a program which presents free concerts in rural Puerto Rico. In 2008, Zenón received a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation and was one of 25 individuals to receive the coveted MacArthur Fellowship "Genius Grant."
