Scott Kettner with special guest Rob Curto
When Scott Kettner looks at a map, he sees a direct line that connects the rivers of northeastern Brazil to the parishes of New Orleans and the streets of NYC. A master percussionist, bandleader and educator, Kettner is the guiding force behind Nation Beat, a band whose teeming, vibrant rhythms find common ground in the primal maracatu rhythm of Brazil’s northeast, the Big Easy’s funky, hypnotic second-line and the unfettered freedom of big-city downtown jazz. He is the creator of WorldDrumLessons.Com, an online academy for percussionists and is a part-time faculty member at The New School University. His instructional book, Maracatu for Drumset and Percussion is published by Hal Leonard.

Also in the lineup for the evening:

ALEXANDROV-SKLIAR DUO
Both masters of Russian domra and mandolin, Alexey and Ekaterina came together in 2015 to form a unique mandolin-domra duo that presents a repertoire that spans the globe; from Bach duets to folk and jazz music. They arrange baroque and classical masterpieces, jazz and ethnic themes for their unique instrumentation, bringing together the traditions of classical music and the atmosphere of freedom
from Russian folk origins.

Brother Martin
The Philly-based indie band is led by
vocalist/saxophonist/accordionist, Maria Mirenzi, and pianist/vocalist, Daniel Espie. Brother Martin creates a theatrical, dreamy world that is both intimate and powerful, blending styles of rock, jazz and folk and explores the depths of our emotions. Their debut EP "Led-Son" was release in January of 2018, and they are currently working on their first full-length album.
Brad Cole
The songs of Brad Cole address the ups and downs of the human condition with both wit and raw insight. His
passionate and distinctive delivery of roots-based folk music, woven with the grit and groove of old school bossa
and rhythm & blues moves the listener’s soul in a direction that is unexpected, yet perfectly familiar.
