Trinidelphia Presents : Caribbean Jazz Night, May Edition featuring Leana Song
The first of a monthly series of Caribbean and World Music at Franky Bradleys, hosted by Steelpan-based Caribbean Jazz ensemble Trinidelphia. This club is awesome! It features a diverse palette of stuff ranging from Burlesque to World Music. The first edition of this series will feature Afro-Cuban Orisha song ensemble Leana Song with a Bata Drums demonstration, along with Trinidelphia. $7 at door, Doors 8:30, music runs from 9-12. The third set will feature an open latin jazz jam session, horn players/percussionists welcome to sit in!

Once again the fair will have lots for kids of all ages: the petting zoo and pony rides will be back, along with an obstacle course and a bounce house. There will be music from local groups (see line up below) and delicious offerings from some of the top vendor trucks in University City. There will be a plant sale by the University City Garden Club, a $1 used book sale with lots of great titles, and a raffle – the top prize this year will be an Apple watch, donated by the University Family Fun Center. Many local artisans and crafts people will be offering their wares at the vending booths.

In honor of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's much-anticipated Pop art exhibit (International Pop, February 24, 2016 - May 15, 2016), the world's tallest and hairiest drag queen and her band are putting together a night of music from the 1960s. It will be a hirsute happening.
Martha will perform two different sets in the Grand Stair Hall from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p. and 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

On the first Fridays from April through August, we celebrate by representing the five states that most Black Philadelphians' families migrated from during the Great Migration: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
Each party will feature, a live Jazz band and pre-recorded music, dance instruction and free dance, a buffet of themed dishes created by Chef Valerie Erwin of Geechee Girl Restaurant, wine/beer, other beverages, and fun! In addition, there will be special guests and the exclusive PJP vendors, Books & Stuff and The Silk Tent.

T.A.B.U. is a local all-female R&B band formed in May of 1997. Members were keyboardist Rhonda Lancaster, who has worked with The Delfonics, The Joe Frazier Band, C.C. Peniston and other local groups; drummer Tracey Duncan, a former Washington High School hoop starr; and bassist Linda McNeil, who has worked with Major Harris, The Intruders and Billy Paul.
