Bassist Matthew Parrish and Karine Aguiar, The Muse of the Amazon, present a Brazilian Jazz Extravaganza on April 11. Aguiar is a singer born and raised in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. With nearly a decade of guidance from the Belorussian vocal coach Natalia Sakouro, Karine regularly performs at the Amazonas Opera House, singing opera and "Jungle Jazz" concerts. She aptly mixed Amazonian and North American jazz styles in her acclaimed 2011 recording, ‘Arraial do Mundo’. In 2014, the recording won the equivalent of the Brazilian Grammy for Best Brazilian Music Album. Karine will bring Amazonian drummer/percussionist Ygor Saunier to Yardley to join Matthew Parrish, who will bring his New York-based colleagues to the stage for this one-of-a-kind evening.

Karine Aguiar is a singer born and raised in Manaus, Amazonas, on February 27th of 1987. From 2004 to 2012, she was under the guidance of the Belorussian vocal coach Natalia Sakouro at Liceu de Artes e Oficios Cláudio Santoro. Since 2007, Karine is performing at Amazonas Opera House, singing Opera and "Jungle Jazz" concerts.
In 2011, the singer was invited, in Manaus, by the pianist Vana Gierig for a recording session in New York City. The sessions resulted in the CD "Arraial do Mundo", that mixed the amazonian with north-american musicians. In 2012, "Arraial do Mundo" was released at the Amazonas Opera House, as an opening concert to Ron Carter.
In 2014, "Arraial do Mundo" was laureate in France by "Brasil.FR" as the Best Brazilian Music Album. On march 5th of the same year,Karine Aguiar was invited to perform the Amazon music at UNESCO, in Paris, accompanied only by the amazonian drummer/percussionist Ygor Saunier, to an audience of 1,500 people. In sequence, on march 12th, the singer was invited by RTP Television, to speak about the award received in France and to promote her "Arraial do Mundo" in Portugal.
The great success of the "jungle jazz" in Europe, provided that Karine Aguiar passed to reside currently in France.
