Philly’s favorite world-ly DJ (and also your fave co-author of this newsletter awkwardly writing in third person) is gearing up once again to create a musical splash from behind the turntables. This time, the Caribbean is where we all are headed. In 2010, Rahsaan gave up a very busy nightclub schedule (at one point, he was cooking up 5 weekly parties in 4 clubs & lounges, and a smacking handful of monthly parties in Philly & NYC) to focus solely on AfroTaino Productions and the agency’s growth & expansion.
Only stepping into the booth for VIP gatherings, charity events, and concerts, ‘DJ Rahsaan’ still shows he’s a genuine party rocker. In less than a year’s time, he’s opened for Puerto Rican music mega-band Calle 13, Ugandan sensation Kinobe, and also set a magical vibe for the legendary Zap Mama. This Wednesday he steps back into that comfort zone, and focuses on a dense and deep DJ set dedicated to Caribbean music, particularly Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, and even some quality Reggaeton. This will definitely be a pleasurable escape for the day-timers leaving work, and arriving in time for a tropical excursion. Dancing is a necessity, so bring friends."
