Renowned Latin music leaders Jesse Bermudez and Rob Bernberg reveal the pivotal role played by Jews in the origins of the Latin music “crossover” that began in the Catskills and continues through this day with the Fania All-Stars’ legendary musician and bandleader, Larry Harlow, nicknamed “El Judio Maravilloso” (“The Marvelous Jew”). Get yourself acquainted with the musical roots of the genre that seems to have universal appeal, and treat yourself to a free salsa dance lesson following the presentation!

Jesse Bermudez is the founder of Philadelphia’s famed A.M.L.A. music education program, owner of RayJess.com radio, and has been at the center of Philadelphia’s Latin music scene for the past 50 years. Rob Bernberg, Esquire, is a longtime co-owner of Latin Beat Magazine, the world’s leading tropical music periodical for the past 20 years.

This event is a collaboration with Siempre Salsa Philly and part of Siempre Salsa Philly’s week-long celebration.
