September 4, 2015 6:00-9:00 PM "One World of Jazz: From Africa to Israel and Beyond" at the Barnes Foundation

FIRST FRIDAY! ONE WORLD OF JAZZ: FROM AFRICA TO ISRAEL AND BEYOND
Intercultural Journeys brings Israeli-American clarinetist and Grammy-winner Oran Etkin and Malian balafon virtuoso Balla Kouyate to the Barnes Foundation (2025 Ben Franklin Parkway). They'll be joined by special guest, Abdoulaye Diabate, a Malian griot and vocalist. They'll present two sets from 6-9pm in honor of the Barnes Foundation's new African Art catalog. Accompanied by another Malian musician, Makane Kouyate, and bassist Marcos Varela, they'll present Kelenia - blending jazz with traditional West African and Israeli music. Gonna be a great show!!!
Tickets are $20 for IJ patrons with the code "ICJ2015."
