August 26, 2016 7:30 PM Smooth Jazz Summer Nights presents Peabo Bryson
Smooth Jazz Summer Nights at Penn's Landing
August 26, 2016 Peabo Bryson
Peabo Bryson has established a career as one of the premier male vocalists in contemporary music of the last quarter century. Possessing a beautifully rich, almost operatic voice, this two-time Grammy Award-winner has survived and prospered despite the passage of time and changes in popular musical trends.
With twenty albums to his credit, Peabo Bryson has enjoyed an unprecedented, across-the-board level of international success, Bryson has the distinction of being the first artist in music history to have separate records topping four different charts.
Acclaim and recognition are nothing new for this multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer. Born April 13, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina, Bryson spent much of his childhood on his grandfather's farm in Maudlin, South Carolina. "I have two sisters and a brother, but I'm the oldest male in the family, so I was taught to work and work hard!”
Smooth Jazz Summer Nights Policies
SJSN is the longest running FREE event produced by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC). In order to ensure its continued success, we need your help in following two important policies:
Chairs - Chairs cannot be left unoccupied on the Great Plaza prior to the concert start time. Any chair(s) left unoccupied will be removed from the Great Plaza. We understand this practice was a long standing tradition, however the security and safety of our guests visiting the Delaware River Waterfront is of the utmost importance to DRWC.
Alcohol - We would also like to take this opportunity to remind our valued guests that outside alcohol is not permitted inside the gated area of the Great Plaza. Anyone bringing in alcohol can / will be asked to leave the Great Plaza (or any DRWC owned and operated property) and will be escorted off the premises.

Visiting from Colombia, this band joins the summer series with a powerful rhythm and energy all their own. Their fun, upbeat style brings together funk, salsa, and elements of Caribbean music, including calypso, zouk, and Haitian compas, and gets audiences on their feet and dancing from the first note.
From Bluegrass to Creole, from Afro-Cuban to Mexican Mariachi—with a little 80s pop in the mix—Penn Museum’s popular Summer Nights Concert Series offers a little something for everyone. Now in its seventh year, the Wednesday night series runs from June 15 through September 7, 5:00 to 8:00 pm, in the Museum’s outdoor Stoner Courtyard garden.
The Pepper Mill Café offers a garden bar, with beer, wine, and cocktails as well as non-alcoholic beverages, and regionally-themed happy hour fare available for purchase. Guests can opt to sit at outdoor tables, stage-front seating, or lawn seating to enjoy the performances. Galleries remain open, and guests may choose to take a short docent-led gallery tour at intermission, or enjoy Museum galleries on their own, until 8:00 pm. Concerts take place rain or shine, moving inside in inclement weather.
General admission, which includes admission to the Museum’s galleries, is just $10; $5 PennCard holders and Penn Medicine and CHOP employees with ID; free for Penn Museum Members. (There is an additional fee for the special exhibition The Golden Age of King Midas.)
The Penn Museum is located at 3260 South Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (on Penn's campus, across from Franklin Field).

August 12, 2016 7:30 PM Smooth Jazz Summer Nights presents Cindy Bradley
Smooth Jazz Summer Nights at Penn's Landing
August 12, 2016 Cindy Bradley
With the release of Unscripted, her latest Trippin’ N Rhythm recording, Cindy Bradley is not only keeping the trumpet and flugelhorn hip and grooving lead jazz instruments like her late great heroes Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan and Blue Mitchell--she’s also continues her knack for picking spot on album titles.
Calling her 2009 debut Bloom proved prophetic, as the multi-talented performer blossomed into a powerful and charismatic presence at radio and on the contemporary jazz festival circuit. Along the way, Cindy performed everywhere from the River Raisin’ Jazz Festival in Monroe, Michigan to the Dubai Jazz Fest. She won Best New Artist at the American Smooth Jazz Awards and was named Debut Artist of the Year by the Catalina Island Jazz Trax Festival and Smooth Jazz News. How to follow up? Easy. Don’t over-think or worry about everyone’s great expectations. Like a lot of the most exciting moments in life, it’s sometimes just best to go Unscripted—the perfect moniker for the whimsical spirit and stylistic diversity that drives Cindy’s new album.

Mariachi Flor de Toloache
Latin Grammy Nominees Mariachi Flor de Toloache make New York City history as its’ first and only all-women mariachi band. Founded in 2008, Mariachi Flor de Toloache is lead by singers Mireya I. Ramos (founder) & Shae Fiol (original member). Reminiscent of the early days of mariachi the group started as a trio, Harp, Violin and Vihuela. Today Mariachi Flor De Toloache performs as a full mariachi ensemble. The members hail from diverse cultural backgrounds such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Australia, Colombia, Germany, Italy and the United States which defines their unique flavor and sound. The end result of this cultural bouquet is an edgy, versatile and fresh take on traditional Mexican music. They coalesce as would a band of sisters, with a grace and vibrant beauty that casts a spell over their audiences like the legendary Toloache flower still being used in Mexico as a love potion. While they work to preserve the centuries old tradition of Mariachi, inevitably their special tincture of the traditional with the modern pushes the boundaries of the genre and brings Mariachi music to places it has never been.
