The Liberian Women's Chorus for Change w/ Openers Modero Dance Company

On Saturday, August 20, the Liberian Women's Chorus for Change will bring the power of Liberian traditional song to the 40th Street Summer Series for a powerful evening. Composed of renowned singers, dancers, and musicians from Liberia, these award-winning performers create music intended to encourage women to make their voices heard, and to take positive steps forward. Opening the show will be the Modero Dance Company, who were founded to combine traditional and modern Indonesian dance disciplines that brings the best of both worlds in energetic and intricate choreography.

6pm at 40th & Walnut St (Field on 40th Street between Walnut and Locust, behind the Walnut West Free Library)

Each summer UCD, Penn, and The Rotunda host free outdoor concerts and performances that capture the soul of the neighborhood. This is the 12th year of the 40th Street Summer Series. This family-friendly event will also feature free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's and free smoothies from honeygrow (both while supplies last), plus face painting, balloon animals, juggling, and more!
