The Group “Danza Azteca del Anahuac” showcases Aztec dances and traditional costumes. They believe dance is a prayer in movement, in which a person, by means of these movements, is generating energy that elevates to the universe. These movements were very important in the lives of Mexican (Aztecs) and throughout Mesoamerica; for them it was a way to express the honor and gratitude to the guardians of nature and life givers.
Also between intermissions you will be able to visit cultural tables with artifacts from traditional Mexican customs.
This program is part of the World Traveling Trunks series sponsored by the Mexican Cultural Center, the Mexican Consulate and the Free Library of Philadelphia.
The World Traveling Trunks are cultural-themed toolboxes that celebrate cultures around the globe that enrich our local communities in Philadelphia. Building cultural awareness and embracing diversity in a cross-cultural environment will help children and families to develop cross-cultural social skills and connect with the traditions, history and way of living of other global citizens.
