Now in its 28th year, this FREE festival of Caribbean culture, music, and food is one of the celebration of the many festivals in the PECO Multicultural Series and part of the 2014 summer season at Penn’s Landing, presented by PECO.

The 2014 Caribbean Festival is proud to announce its musical entertainment line-up highlighting the international known Image Band from Washington, D.C. Also, our all inclusive entertainment line-up will feature gospel, spoken word and dancing – Timi Tanzania will bring you Universal Greetings and a Marcus Garvey Salute in honor of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey’s 127th Birthday which falls on August 17th; Sistah Mafalda & the Kuumba Dancers will present a toe-tapping, hand-clapping and head-nodding drumming and dance performance; you will be on your feet with the FullJoy Band, and if that is not enough, you will be dancing the Salsa by the De Tierra Caliente Latin Band; David Watkis will stir your soul with spoken words; Faith & Favor Band will certainly uplift you with some soul-searching Gospel; not to mention CBC Mime Ministry, a group of young children’s act, and of course this line-up would not be complete if some positive Reggae Vibration by Ras Professor himself and Dancehall rockaway presented by Mr. Rob Diesel; to cool you down J West Project with present cool Jazz for your listening pleasure. MC for this special day will be DJ Scripture who opens up with Devotional Remarks and Saxaphonist Kenny Sykes to follow with the National Anthem.

As always, the event will also feature the ever-popular steel drum band, Philly PanStars, along with a Caribbean Culture booth - Tings Caribbean – where one can feel, touch and sample “Tings” from the islands. A Caribbean Children’s Village – “Pickney Kannah” - will also be featured.

This Festival, presented by PECO Multicultural Series and the Caribbean Festival & Cultural Committee, now its 28th year, works to publicize the importance of the islands and the cultural contribution of the Caribbean Community to the Philadelphia region and beyond. Most importantly, the event raises scholarship funds for college students of Caribbean descent.
