August 24, 2014 7:00 PM Clubhouse Concert with The Bowmans, Famous October, and El Caribefunk

The Clubhouse
1125 S 13th St
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
$15. at the door
From Ryan Tennis:
Please join us for a special Sunday Clubhouse Concert. We'll begin with two cutting edge, intimate folk acts.

The Bowmans are identical twins and beautiful musicians I encountered during my tour in Europe. I was immediately taken in by their voices, their stories, and their ability to entrance the audience. After playing together for years, Sarah now lives full time in Switzerland and Claire is a Berkeley resident, but they'll be reunited for this special tour.

Famous October is a guitar-cello duo featuring Sarah Bowman and her husband, Swiss singer/songwriter Rene Coal Burrell. They combine cello, guitar, and vocal harmonies to bring their moving stories to life. Both acts are sure to bring that seamless energy that you only have when the performers have intimate relationships.

After the first acts, we'll change gears and turn the night over to the unstoppable rhythmic energy of El Caribefunk. This is their last scheduled show in Philly, so don't miss it!

As usual, I'll open the night up with a short set. Snacks and drinks of all kinds are provided, and we'll charge $15 at the door to support these great touring acts and cover our costs. If you're having trouble coming up with the money, message me a few days in advance, and we can work out a volunteer thing.

Here's a bit more about the Bowmans and Famous October.

THE BOWMANS:

With harmonies that seem to come from one astonishing voice, The Bowmans share a rare, near telepathic musical bond. The touring twins are a bi-continental 'roller coaster' duo, ranging from poignantly captivating to serendipitously joyful. Their music is concurrently sophisticated and imaginative, blending together the preserved vulnerability and abandoned glee of their Iowa childhood. The Bowmans deeply move and delight their audience world wide with uncanny, evocative, and unforgettable performances.

FAMOUS OCTOBER:

Famous October are two singer-songwriters, combining in harmony with cello and guitar to bring their moving stories to life. Their sound pulls from Americana, Country, folk, and surprising classical elements. Attending a Famous October concert is an iopen door into the heartwarming and picturesque world that is created by both the music and the intimate connection Sarah and Coal instantly have with their audience.

EL CARIBEFUNK:

From The Key XPN: "This eclectic and wildly entertaining band from Colombia is having a great summer sojourn in the states. In residence since June at the South Philly venue / rowhome The Clubhouse (hosted by Ryan Tennis, another PFF performer), El Caribefunk has used its time based in Philly wisely, performing at MusikFest, 2nd Street Fest and Love Park, touring the southern states and hopping on a brief European jaunt. They blend reggae, funk, Afro-Caribbean dance music with Spanish lyrics and will pretty much leave you with no recourse but to get up and move your feet."
