Announcing the Philadelphia release of
Symphony in Bossa
on Saturday March 14, at World Cafe Live, downstairs. The Minas Sextet is looking forward to performing the entire CD with one of the largest ensembles to ever play World Cafe, including a big band, a string section, a vocal ensemble and guest artists. Tickets are on sale now and include a copy of the CD.
Symphony in Bossa was arranged specially for Minas by Bill Zaccagni. We're dedicating the project to Bill, who passed away in 2007 leaving us this extraordinary gift of music. It took 10 years to complete and was recorded with the prestigious Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, under the direction of Terell Stafford. Strings were assembled and directed by Anthony Pirollo. Guest artists include Larry McKenna, Terell Stafford, John Swana, Tony Salicandro and Steve Tirpak. Rhythm section expertly performed by Adriano Santos, Leonardo Lucini, Zé Maurício, and a cameo by Rob Hyman, of the famous Hooters.
Minas is also thrilled to be joined by the University of Delaware big band, string and vocal ensembles, under the direction of Tom Palmer.
