La Calaca Flaca invites you to join the inaugural Pachanga de Los Muertos, a festive fundraiser and preview celebration of Día de los Muertos at Fleisher Art Memorial. Join the party to learn more about the culture and traditions of Mexico in this special event planned by South Philadelphia community members. Artists Ana Palma and César Viveros will take us behind the scenes and share their creative process in constructing this year’s altar, dedicated to the Mayan Afterworld.
Enjoy authentic tamalitos, sopas, and more from PhillyTacos, made to perfection by talented chef Juan Carlos Romero. Sip margaritas as you dance to son jarocho music and compose witty calaveras. Complimentary childcare will be provided in our studios. You’ll leave Pachanga de Los Muertos with a deeper understanding of Día de los Muertos and the inspiring work of La Calaca Flaca. Proceeds benefit Fleisher’s work to foster a diverse and just community, where creative self-expression and learning art is accessible to all.
Pachanga de Los Muertos is just one of many events planned by La Calaca Flaca for Día de los Muertos. In keeping with Fleisher’s mission to make art accessible, many activities offered are free-of-charge, including the culminating community parade and celebration on Sunday, October 29. This special fundraising party will help to ensure that Fleisher can support these opportunities this year and beyond.
