The Maya Keren Trio is a Philadelphia-based jazz group comprised of three recent high school graduates whose experience, passion, and collective skill belies their age. On the drums is Julian Miltenberger, who quotes Ben Riley and Elvin Jones as his main musical influences. John Moran holds down the bottom line on the bass, with extensive experience playing creative music across all genres. Heading the trio is pianist Maya Keren, who admires the straight-ahead swing of Wynton Kelly but aims to follow in the footsteps of pianists pushing the boundaries of creative music, like Orrin Evans. Keren has been recognized by both the YoungArts Foundation and Grammy Band Jazz for her playing.
The three have matured together under the tutelage of Philly giants Anthony Tidd and Tony Miceli and have been performing their mix of jazz standards and originals all over the Philly region, from the Chestnut Hill Jazz Festival to Chris' Jazz Cafe. Blessed by a city steeped in the tradition of jazz, these young musicians intend to
be the face of the music to come.
