Workshop with Rafael Pondé , join the brazilian singer songwriter Rafael Pondé and learn about brazilian music story and rhythms for different instruments for just $20, link for the ticket
Students will learn how to play some brazilian rhythms ( Xote, Samba e Ijexá) in different instruments like Guitar, Bass, Drum set and also some brazilian drums. Rafael will teach the basic principles and claves for those rhythms as well as the story behind them.

Rafael Pondé, an accomplished Philadelphia-based musician, originally from Diamba, Salvador, in The State of Bahia, Brazil, promotes cultural understanding and combats racism through music. Early recognition began in 1999, when he participated in the Bahian Music Festival by University of Vitória da Conquista. Here. he and The Curupira band won blessing of Waly Salomão, one of the greatest "Tropicalia" poets. This led to Rafael being placed in the hall of the greats "novissimos baianos.” Waly traveled with the young Rafael to São Paulo to record the program "Música brasileira" in the studios of Trama, with João Marcelo Bôscoli, the son of the legendary Elis Regina.

Rafael Pondé has recorded four albums. He has toured Europe and Latin America, and has played in The Weltkulture festival in Germany. ​In 2014, he was invited to come to the USA to work with the musical company Sconnection as a performer and recording musician.

In 2016, Rafael was elected as "Brazilian cultural ambassador" for the program "Partners of America.” His workshops and speeches share Brazilian culture and focus on building cultural understanding and overcoming racism through music and the arts.In 2010, while living in Rio de Janeiro released his short documentary "O novíssimo baiano" directed by Helio Rodrigues.
