SunDub: Brooklyn-based SunDub is a genre-blending reggae collective rooted in unity, diversity, and positive change. Formed out of a weekly residency in 2013, the band brings together a core of accomplished New York musicians and collaborators, including reggae legends like Ruff Scott, Larry McDonald, and Sidney Mills. Their debut album Burden of Love showcases a soulful fusion of roots reggae, funk, and blues, anchored by Joanna Teters’ commanding vocals and the group’s airtight arrangements—garnering millions of streams and global acclaim. Beyond the music, SunDub channels its platform toward activism and education, from teaching youth in NYC to raising funds for racial justice causes during the pandemic. Their work both honors the traditions of Jamaican music and reimagines it for today’s listeners.

Bakithi Kumalo: Award-winning South African bassist Bakithi Kumalo, best known for his iconic bass line on Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al,” presents a joyful musical journey rooted in the rhythms of Soweto, where he began playing professionally at just seven years old. Recognized by Bass Player Magazine as one of the top 50 bassists in the world, Kumalo rose to international fame after collaborating with Simon on the landmark Graceland album and has since toured and recorded with legends including Sting, Stevie Wonder, Hugh Masekela, Herbie Hancock, and the Grateful Dead. A multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Kumalo blends traditional African influences with global sounds in both his collaborative and solo work, including his recent project What You Hear Is What You See.
