"Asociacion Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) is back again with their Gift of Love Gala, their annual holiday event that raises funds & spirits for underprivileged families in urban Philadelphia, helping provide gifts & services for over 4000 children and their families, assisting inner city families in staying warm & healthly throughout the winter. The gala attracts hundreds of attendees, and offers a night of global entertainment and fun for a great cause. This year’s theme is “Phlavors of Philly”, and aims to celebrate the vibrant multicultural staples of food, dance & song. The stage will reflect this diversity: Indian Bollywood dancing with TU Bhangra; sultry French melodies from Eleanor Dubinsky; explosive salsa dance company Grupo Fuego; Philly’s #1 world music DJ Rahsaan; and the pulsing Afro-Brazilian samba rhythms of Dende & Band. Every year, the gala takes the time to recognize outstanding people who have done remarkable work for Philly's communities, here and beyond. This year’s honorees are three remarkable women: Charisse R. Lillie (of the Comcast Corporation), Quiara Alegría Hudes (author/playwright “In The Heights”), and Ana Ortiz (actress, ‘Ugly Betty’, ‘Devious Maids’). It all takes place at the historical landmark building, The National Constitution Center - a few skips away from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. This night will one to remember.
