"ACF Philadelphia will present percussionist and composer Arturo Stable in a workshop on Cuban music (October 8th at 6pm in Raices's Talentos Studios). The Chapter invites musicians and composers, especially those unfamiliar with the music of Cuba, to learn about the fundamentals of Cuban music and its influence on the international music community. Hands on participation is encouraged in this workshop where Arturo will cover:
500 years of fusion with Cuban music
•Changui and Rumba styles (pillars of Cuban music)
•Form, instrumentation, rhythm, and melody
•The clave (demystified)
•Contributions and arranging considerations
•Important artists
Group participation is encouraged, but not required. Please bring your instruments (all are welcome) or percussion instruments will be provided. Admission is free for ACF members and $10 for all non-ACF members. ACF members should contact Program Manager James Falconi (james@acfphiladelphia.org) prior to ticket purchase on the Eventbrite page to obtain the free admission code."
