As Cuban revolutions go, it was peaceful, but its impact was monumental. The Buena Vista Social Club seemingly came out of nowhere, but this band of Cuban legends—who had set the rhythm of Cuba's golden era in the 1940s and 1950s—quickly established itself as irresistible, transcending both fad and fashion. Their sound has remained utterly fresh since the release of their 1997 'debut' album, produced by Ry Cooder. Following a series of hugely successful performances in recent years, they have reunited as the 13-piece Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, featuring several Buena Vista Social Club alumni including trumpeter Guajiro Mirabal, laúd virtuoso Barbarito Torres, trombonist Jesus 'Aguaje' Ramos, and vocalist Omara Portuondo.

'Even more emotionally engaging than the group's eponymous album, which triggered a worldwide Latin-jazz revival.' —Rolling Stone
