February 10 2014 (rescheduled from February 3) 7:00-9:00 PM Philly Drum Project Monthly Meeting: Beats, Brews, and Banter with Patrick Berkery

Are you a drummer, drum educator, gear-head, or wannabe? Philly Drum Project’s monthly event, Beats, Brews, & Banter, will continue on Monday, February 10th at RBar at the corner of 23rd and Walnut in Philadelphia. The event will run from 7-9pm and feature drummer and writer Patrick Berkery (The War on Drugs) discussing his influences, diverse playing experiences, and tips on how to balance session work with other life priorities. Beats, Brews, & Banter takes place every first Monday with a featured drummer each month.

Patrick Berkery is a Philadelphia-based freelance rock drummer who has toured and recorded with a wide range of artists including the War on Drugs, the Pernice
Brothers, Wesley Stace (aka John Wesley Harding), Danielson, the Bigger Lovers, Mazarin, the Photon Band, I Was a King, New Radiant Storm King and more. He's played everywhere from Tallahassee to Tokyo, gigging at scuzzy rock clubs, hallowed venues like New York's Carnegie Hall and internationally renowned music festivals like All Tomorrow's Parties, Austin City Limits, Australia's traveling Harvest Fest and Spain's Benicassim festival. As house drummer for Stace's Cabinet of Wonders variety shows in New York, Berkery has backed up artists like actor/comedian/musician Fred Armisen, author Rick Moody and musicians such as Graham Parker, Dan Zanes and Rhett Miller. He is also a founding member of the Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society, a collective of musicians that has performed the Fleetwood Mac albums 'Tusk' and 'Mirage' in their entirety at shows in Boston, New York and Philadelphia since 2010 to rave reviews.

In addition to his drumming work, Berkery has been a longtime contributor to Modern Drummer, writing cover stories on Max Weinberg and Mick Fleetwood, along with numerous features on his drumming heroes like Stan Lynch, Hal Blaine, James Gadson, Martin Chambers, Alex Van Halen, Jay Bellerose and more.
