From AfroTaino Productions:"We are enchanted by soulful sounds of tomorrow. In fact, quite obsessed with it. There’s no greater thrill than new, fresh music coursing through your body like adrenaline. That rush is sure to be in abundance, as two bright music acts – Daniel de Jesus and Rosa Diaz – bring their genre-blurring sounds to the Fleisher Art Memorial’s Sanctuary. Both of Puerto Rican descent, and of Philadelphian-hard knock lifestyle, de Jesus & Diaz are distinct acts that continue to make audiences squirm in delight. Having garnered popularity through his unmistakeable role with the alt-Victorian act Rasputina, and Philly’s own TivaTiva, cello-wielding front man Daniel de Jesús captivates with his powerful, soaring vocals and steals the hearts of all mortals in his presence. His unique ensemble provides a transporting and soul-cleansing experience for lovers of music in any genre. Rosa Diaz's music could be classified as indie or alternative, but the truth of her style resists labels. It features elements of campfire love ballads, shoegaze pop, and folkloric latin genres. Her unique vocals ranges from soaring harmonies reminiscent of soothing church hymns to hypnotic siren wails. According to Alt.Latino/NPR Radio, her "mysterious" voice "is an instrument in itself", and her debut CD, "Whim" was chosen as one of Alt.Latino's best picks of the 2013 Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC). With insider comparisons to The Cocteau Twins & Aimee Mann, Rosa Diaz is poised to explode in the global folk music arena. Join us on this special night as they play selections from their unreleased albums. This is Part Two of the AfroTaino X Fleisher collaboration."
