From AfroTaino Productions:
"It’s back! The 2014 International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival returns to The City that Never Sleeps aka New York City, and is bigger and better than the previous years. As always, the festival will feature films in various film houses & locations across the city; all films are based on the subject of Puerto Rico, its people, including those in the Diaspora, or that have a Puerto Rican in a production role. The festival spotlights the filmmakers, the actors, and the industry with a series of panel discussions and some celeb-filled gatherings & events. The festival is brimming with anticipation. For starters, on opening night, before the first screening (“El Clown”), Grammy-nominated tropical music start Frankie Negron will kick off the festivities with a live performance of “La Borinqueña”. On Saturday the 15th, the IPRHFF Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to the exquisite & ever-so-talented film/theatre/television (and Tony Award-winning!) actor Priscilla Lopez. And this year’s film selections are top notch, like the already-sold-out screening of ‘Pa’lante, Siempre Pa’lante! The Young Lords’, which documents the history of a leading Puerto Rican activistorganization in the U.S. during the 1960’s & 70’s. In the documentary, former members discuss the Young Lords’ vision, community organizing, militant actions, and ongoing legacy in on-camera interviews accompanied with archival footage, photographs and music." AfroTaino Productions is a proud supporter of the IPRHFF.
