40th Street Summer Series on September 17
Rennie Harris RHAW w/ Openers Kalamandir Dance Company
On Saturday, September 17, the 40th Street Summer Series will celebrate an evening of dance! Dr. Rennie Harris’ RHAW is a dance group for youths training for Rennie Harris Puremovement. The group performs Campbell Locking, Popping & Boogaloo, B-boy/girl, House, and Hip hop social dance. RHAW forges new paths for young hip hop hopefuls, and will present Hip hop in its "RHAW-est" forms. Opening the show will be Kalamandir Dance Company, a contemporary ensemble that uses the vocabulary of classical Indian dance to explore new spaces of artistic expression.
6pm at 40th & Walnut St (Field on 40th Street between Walnut and Locust, behind the Walnut West Free Library)
Each summer UCD, Penn, and The Rotunda host free outdoor concerts and performances that capture the soul of the neighborhood. This is the 12th year of the 40th Street Summer Series. This family-friendly event will also feature free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's and free smoothies from honeygrow (both while supplies last), plus face painting, balloon animals, juggling, and more!
