November 1, 2015 12:00 Noon African Dance Party with Sharon Katz and The Peace Train Followed by Film Screening

Phila. Area Community Drum/Music/Vocal Improv Gathering will be opening the concert with a participatory drum circle at 12 noon.
The concert & dance party will start at 1:00 pm
This is a most unique day in the history of The Peace Train. We will celebrate with a slamming all star concert and African Dance Party at Philadelphia World Cafe Live Downstairs from noon to 3pm and then go to the Roxy Theatre, 2023 Sansom Street for the 4.55 pm screening of the award winning documentary about the impact of The Peace Train Project on communities in South Africa "When Voices Meet" which has been nominated for 2 awards by the Philadelphia Film Festival and won Best Documentary Feature, Best Director and Best Original Music Soundtrack at World Music and Independent Film Festival in Washington and Making A Difference Awards at Toronto's Global COMMFFEST.

Back by Popular Demand - South Africa's Sharon Katz & The Peace Train bring their Grammy-nominated, Afro-Pop-Jazz-Roots fusion back to World Cafe Live Downstairs for a concert and dance party celebrating the release of their award-winning film, "When Voices Meet." Get ready for exhilarating rhythms played by world-class musicians, exotic harmonies and authentic Zulu dance combined with a message that goes straight to the heart. South African diva Nonhlanhla Wanda, original singer in The Peace Train and co-star of the film, will reunite with Sharon for this event. The 8-piece band of Sharon Katz & The Peace Train includes Sharon on guitar and vocals; Wendy Khethiwe Quick, dance and vocals; Charles Beasley, bass; Mark Beecher, drums; Barry Sames, keyboards and trombone; Jared Jackson, saxophone; Matt Cappy, trumpet; and Nokwanda Taho, Zulu dancer - plus a few other surprises.
Touring worldwide as Nelson Mandela's cultural ambassadors, Sharon Katz & The Peace Train's credits include performances and CDs with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Pete Seeger, Sting, Tina Turner, Elton John, Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge and Miriam Makeba. US performance highlights include New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, The Getty in Los Angeles, UNESCO's Nelson Mandela Day Concert and Carnegie's Hall's World Music Concert Series.
