Saturday June 3rd - the annual Sugar Cane Festival returns! The location has changed, but the Caribbean-natured family fun is the same! The yearly all-ages gathering celebrates the legacy of the sugar cane in the Americas, and its roots in the Caribbean, by showcasing live music, entertainment, and even providing info on the various social services provided in the region. There's also lots of good food, kids' activities, and of course, FREE SUGAR CANE! Just follow the sound of the machetes chopping the stalks, and look for the loooong lines of people standing and waiting for it. This year, the mainstage will see performances from many talents including the Trinidadian steel band 'Philly Pan Stars', folkloric group Los Bomberos de la Calle, nueva trova guitarist/vocalist Fernandito Ferrer, Puerto Rican artist Lizbeth Roman & band, and headlining the fest is the explosive sound & energy of FunkSalsaUrban! Hosted by Univision65 and programmed by AfroTaino Productions, the Annual Sugar Cane Fest takes place at its new location: 6th & Susquehanna sts. North Philly, starts at 11am! See you then! #AfroTainoPrimavera
